Schei ("we", "our", "the app") is a personal finance app built to help you track accounts, budgets, debt, and investments. This policy explains what information we collect, how it's used, and how it's protected.

Information We Collect

• Account information: your email address, used to create and secure your Schei account.
• Financial data: account balances, transactions, and institution details, either entered manually by you or retrieved through our banking data provider, Plaid, when you choose to connect a bank account.
• Budget, debt, and investment data: any budgets, debts, TFSA/RRSP contributions, and related figures you create or enter in the app.
• Imported data: if you import a CSV file from another app or your bank, the transactions in that file.

How We Use Your Information

Your financial data is used solely to power the features of the app you're using it for: showing your balances, calculating budgets, tracking debt payoff, and generating personalized insights. We do not sell your data to advertisers or third parties.

Third-Party Services

• Plaid: if you connect a bank account, Plaid securely retrieves your account and transaction data on our behalf. Plaid's own privacy policy governs how it handles your banking credentials, which Schei never sees directly.
• Supabase: our database and authentication provider, used to securely store your account data.
• Anthropic (Claude): if you use AI features (transaction categorization or personalized insights), relevant transaction or account summaries may be sent to Anthropic's API to generate that response. This data is used only to produce your results and is not used to train Anthropic's models.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored using industry-standard encryption, both in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Access to your account is protected by your login credentials. We do not store your bank login credentials — those are handled directly and securely by Plaid.

Your Rights

You can request a copy of your data, request corrections, or request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us using the details below.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is permanently removed from our systems within a reasonable timeframe.

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected with an updated "Last updated" date above.
